Are you having a mid-year slump? How to boost your motivation and morale!

Are you having a mid-year slump? How to boost your motivation and morale!

Are you having a mid-year slump? Feeling down in the dumps because you haven't achieved all the goals that you set at the beginning of this year. If you want to turn your mid-year slump around, here are 5 things to boost your motivation and morale! (PLUS discount on Fatigue Fighter).

Are you feeling demotivated? Stuck in a rut? Exhausted with low energy levels? It’s July and we’ve past the half way mark! This is the time when many of us experience a mid-year slump at work and in our personal lives and are usually in need of a mood and morale booster.

While the mid-year slump cannot be avoided, there are certain things that you can do to feel more positive and excited about the second half of the year!

Here are 5 tips to beat the mid-year slump.

  1. Re-examine the goals you set for the year

Do you remember the goals you set at the beginning of the year? Lose weight? Reduce your debt and save more? Study further and work towards a promotion? Go on an island holiday? Have you achieved the goals you set yourself? What progress have you made? Did you give up already?

If you’ve gone off track a little, it’s not too late to revisit your goals, reassess, refocus and become committed again. Don’t think that starting over again is a sign of failure, see it as a new beginning and fresh start to take action and accomplish your goals by the end of the year.

  1. Learn to be positive

We all know that there are times when it’s really hard to feel positive when life is weighing you down. Do yourself a favour and remove negativity from your life! There are so many depressing things like crime, world politics, finances, work pressure  - even coping with marriage and kids! All these things  can make you feel negative if you choose to focus on them.

We’re not saying that you should stick your head in the sand (although sometimes that is tempting!) – but make a point of embracing all the positives life has to offer. Yes, we know it sounds cliché!

Start by changing your mindset and replacing all the “I can’ts” with “I can”. Surround yourself with positive, upbeat friends, family and colleagues that will inspire and motivate you. Find something to be grateful for every day. When you feel and act positively, you attract more good into your life – it’s true!.

  1. Rediscover your passion

Are you bored with your life? Have you been doing the same job for ten years? Stuck in a rut? Very often we find ourselves going through the motions and eventually it does take its toll on you. Try doing something different to break your everyday routine – do a short course to upskill yourself, join a running club, learn how to tango, paint, knit or write a blog. Rediscover your passion and find what excites you!

Doing something different will motivate and re-energise your spirit and may be just the thing you need to beat the mid-year slump. Mostly, make sure that you are enjoying it and having fun because that’s what really counts!

  1. Take time out

Feeling tired and beat? Stressed and anxious? If you are exhausted all the time and getting ill frequently, you probably deserve a mid-year break. Take a few weeks off from work and book yourself on a holiday to recharge your batteries and lift your spirit again. While it’s not always possible for all of us to take a mid-year break, consider doing a mini-getaway and escape for a few days.

Getting away always helps you to feel less stressed and relaxed and gives you a chance to put things into perspective. It will also definitely boost your motivation levels AND your immune system and you’ll feel more excited to take on the challenges of the second half of the year.

  1. Be good to yourself

When last were you kind to yourself? Can you remember when you actually did something entirely for yourself? Very often we are so busy taking care of others that we put our own needs on the backburner. Do something for yourself without feeling guilty (and, we all know how difficult that can be!)

It is important to take care of your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing so that you can function optimally at home and work.

Take time out by going for a walk, meditate, meet up with friends for coffee, have a massage or nap when you can. If you feel stressed or anxious as most of us often do, address your symptoms and take action. Choose natural remedies such as Fatigue Fighter, MindSoothe and PureCalm from Feelgood Health’s range to balance your mood and emotions and keep you calm and relaxed.

The truth of the matter is that if you are good to yourself then you can offer so much more to those around you.
