Safe, natural tick and flea treatments for your pet!
Preventing and treating your pets' fleas and ticks using natural solutions
Getting rid of a flea or tick infestation can be a nightmare for many pet owners. Once those little parasites start making themselves comfortable on your pets and in your home, it's not only bothersome for the fur babies, but for the entire family! The common method to get rid of fleas and ticks is to buy synthetic topical flea and tick treatments. While these products do successfully control the flea and tick problem, they also contain harmful chemicals which may not be best for your pet's, or your family's health!
Commercial flea and tick products are marketed as harmless and safe, however, evidence suggest that the ingredients in these products pose various health risks to your pet! One of the active ingredients found in many flea and tick control products, fipronil, has been found to enter into animals' systems which can result in thyroid toxicity and damage to the nervous system (although these brands insist that the product stays in the oil glands of the skin). Studies have shown that these flea and tick control products have the potential to cause thyroid cancer, thyroid disorders, liver and kidney diseases and convulsions!
Another active ingredient, Imidacloprid, has been found to increase cholesterol levels, and cause damage to the liver, heart, lungs, brain and other vital organs in pets. Spot on treatments contain a pesticide called pyrethroid which has been linked to seizures, brain damage and heart attacks. There's a whole list of nasty ingredients in the varieties of flea and tick control products, and studies have shown that they may be accountable for dangerous side effects in pets.
So how do we move away from harmful treatments and start controlling fleas and ticks naturally and safely? There are various natural flea and tick treatments that are effective in keeping your pet free from infestations, with natural flea and tick shampoos, flea sprays and flea powders especially formulated to deter fleas and ticks, while keeping your dog and cat healthy!
Natural flea and tick treatments
1) Natural flea and tick shampoo
Keep your dog or cat free from fleas and ticks naturally with safe and effective shampoos. Many pet owners are reluctant to use chemical pet flea shampoos and dips on their dogs and cats for the same reasons that they prefer to use natural products on themselves. Never fear - Vondi's to the rescue with Vondi's Khakibos Natural Pet Flea Shampoo! This Khakibos shampoo can be safely used on dogs and on cats (if you dare!) and can also be used to wash your pet's blanket and laundry as part of a natural flea control program.
2) Natural flea and tick sprays
Use a natural flea and tick spray directly on your pet and in kennels, on blankets and carpets! Vondi's Khakibos Flea & Tick Spray is ideal for dogs and can also be used safely for cats, however, some kitties do not like being sprayed. If your feline is one of them, rather use Vondi's Flea Repellant Powder for fussy felines!
3) Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous Earth is a natural worm and parasite repellent, which is safe for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens! It can be sprinkled over your pet's food as well as the surrounding environment and can also be rubbed into their coat. Not only is Diatomaceous Earth great for naturally treating fleas and ticks, it provides additional health benefits like cleansing your pet's blood, promoting healthy digestion, easing sore joints and strengthening their bones and cartilage!
4) Natural flea and tick powder
Vondi's Khakibos Flea & Tick Repellent Powder can be sprinkled and rubbed directly onto your dog or cat, in their kennels, baskets, and on their blankets. It's very gentle on their skin and effectively repels fleas and ticks.
5) Apple Cider Vinegar
Spraying your pet with an organic Apple Cider Vinegar solution has proven to act as a safe and natural flea and tick treatment. The acidic taste is unappealing to fleas and ticks and will be quick to leave your pet alone! You'll need to make a diluted solution by mixing 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to every 400mls of water, and rinse your pet with it after every wash!
6) Boost your pet's immune system
Did you know that a strong and healthy immune system helps to protect your pet against flea infestations? A dog or cat with a weakened immune system is more susceptible to infestation by all types of parasites, such as fleas, ticks and even intestinal worms! Keeping your pet healthy is one of the best ways to protect them from being attacked by fleas and this can be done by boosting their immune system naturally with Feelgood Pets Immunity & Liver Support. You can also boost your pet's immune system with AllisOne Immuno Synergy, a lactose-free tissue salt.
